Eliana Flood

Congratulations to Durell and Marleen Flood on the birth of their fifth child! Eliana Gloria Flood was born today after a few days of hard work! Congratulations!

Today It is Fulfilled

Today marks the end of Shawn's 6 year vacation. Welcome home. Now let's get back to work.

Closed Until December 12th

I am completing my semester at Puritan Reformed Seminary. There is a lot to do between now and December 12th. I am closing until then. Of course, our children are all well and there will plenty of pictures coming after then.

Sit back, enjoy some good coffee, and watch this a few more times! That should keep you entertained until then!

Miss Ellie Rose Vedra

Please welcome Miss Eleanor Rose Vedra into the world with us. Miss Ellie was born to Adam and Emily Vedra on Wednesday. She was 6 lbs 5 ounces and 20.25" long.

At the present time Miss Ellie is in the NICU at Saint Mary's on Jefferson. There are some serious medical conditions that are requiring her to spend some time at De Vos Children's Hospital.

Please check updates here on her condition and remember her in your prayers. Remember Adam, Emily, Noah, and Seth as well. Pray that the Lord sustains them through this trial. May God's name be glorified and the church learn of God's goodness toward us!

Compu-update

I am not officially supposed to be blogging, because my computer is not fixed.

Here is an update:

• My HP vz6000 is officially in need of a new hard drive. This is quite sad because I use antivirus as well as ad and spy ware software.
  
• My friend, Mark Jurries said that he will put a new one in for me once I order it. I found one on Newegg for under $60. I am very happy that she can be saved.
  
• Adam Vedra, my oldest Grand Rapids buddy, was able to put the HP on life support long enough to extract all of the data that I had stored on it. I was very glad that he was able to do this (he is a Calvin College IT genius). One reason that I was so depressed this week about my computer is that my entire seminary experience is saved on it. I did not have any external hard drive on which I was backing up my material. Basically, Adam saved me from a bout with clinical depression.
  
• For now I am using Lydia's Sony Vaio laptop. It is really nice and I appreciate the fact that she allowed me to download all of my programs on it until my HP is raised from the dead.
  

Lessons learned:

• Back up your files. It can happen to you.
  
• Do not rely too heavily on these machines for writing. I have hard copies of all of the books that I use on Bible software. Do not be too dependent on the quick and easy ways to search.
• Thank the Lord that there are friends with diverse gifts. I talked with some guy in India for 2 hours and he told me NOTHING that Adam and Mark did not already say.
  
• Blogging is too fun to give up.
  

Semester's End

Congratulations to Aaron and Lisa Bishop on their first born child!

Norah Ann was born on April 16, 2007 at 3:59 AM. Her birth weight is 6 lbs, 10 oz. She is 18 1/4" long.

God is faithful from one generation to the next!

Meet the Baby!

Meet the third Eshelman baby. We have been praying quite a bit for this little person. We have been praying that this baby, as well as Anna and Owen, love the Lord Jesus Christ from infancy. John the Baptizer was said to have leaped in the womb at the hearing of the name of Jesus. May all of our children be used for the glory of God and the advancement of Christ's Kingdom.

Quilts for Soldiers

Our friends, Shane and Toni Dunmire, have a son, Zac, that is in the Marines. He is being deployed to Iraq in July. Toni has a special request and I hope that some of you would be compelled to help. Here is a letter I got from Toni this week:

I am making it my mission to make Rag Quilts for all the guys in Zac's platoon (about 60). Their deployment to Iraq has been moved up to July. If you would like to help me in this quest, you can send me masculine flannel fabric, cotton batting or money for me to buy it or pay for postage to send them. I will send a copy of the receipt so you know where your money went. Please do not feel obligated in any way!! This is something I want to do, I just thought if any of you ever wanted to do something for our troops, but didn't know what, this would give you the opportunity. I spoke with Zac and he said he knows the guys would appreciate it.

Five Blessed Years

Five Blessed Years

Five years ago today Lydia and I were married at the Chapel of Reformed Bible College. We sang Psalms, read Scripture, and were married according to the Reformation form written by Peter Detanus. Reformed Christians have been using this form for nearly 500 years. It was a blessed event in which the glories of Jesus Christ were proclaimed. We thank Him for 5 years and pray that the Lord would grant us many more.
In the past five years the Lord has blessed us in many ways. The greatest of which being Anna Grace and Owen Justice. We look forward to our new baby as well. The Lord is gracious and kind unto those that love His name.

Here is the prayer that was prayed as we were married before God:

Almighty God, Thou who dost manifest Thy goodness and wisdom in all Thy ordinances, and from the beginning hast said that it is not good that man be alone and therefore hast created him a helpmeet to be with him, and ordained that they who were two should be one, and who dost also punish all impurity; we pray Thee, since Thou hast called and united these two persons in the holy state of marriage that Thou wilt give them Thy Holy Spirit, so that they in true love and firm faith may live holily according to Thy divine will and resist all evil. Wilt Thou also bless them as Thou hast blessed the believing fathers, Thy friends and faithful servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; in order that they, as coheirs of the covenant which Thou hast established with these fathers, may bring up their children which Thou wilt be pleased to give them, in the fear of the Lord, to the honor of Thy holy name, to the edification of the Thy Church and to the extension of the holy gospel. Hear us, Father of all mercy, for the sake of Jesus Christ, Thy beloved Son, our Lord, in whose name we conclude our prayer.

1:30 AM Saturday Morning

We are currently at the Hampton Inn in Richfield, Ohia. We are less than one and a half hours from Rose Point Church but the roads have disappeared under a field of white and heavy eyelids. We shall continue our journey at 9:30 in the morning.

There is a Nintendo here complete with Excitebike, all the Mario's (including Dr. Mario), and a whole slew of Nintendo 64 games. Lydia was filled with excitement, but it is $7.00 per hour to play it. She will have to practice some self-denial.

Anna wants to go home. She does not like this room. Owen could care less.

Pray for us as we continue our journey tomorrow. Pray for me as I bring the Word to Rose Point Church on the Lord's Day.

A New Life on Union Avenue

There comes a time in all families lives where they feel the need to add another member to the family. Some people are able to supress this feeling with new house plants or a little cuddly puppy.

But there are those in families that desire to feel a little life growing within them. They desire to experience the development of new life and of reflecting a sense of the Creator.

Life is worth passing on to a new generation. Life is worth extending to little feet that will scurry up and down Union Avenue. Life is good when one is going to pass life on to another.





Congratulations to Steve and Janna Birn. May the Lord bless your family, keep baby from harm, and give you much grace as you carry on in the building of a Christian home.
